Food in Thessaloniki
One of the city’s features that make it particularly popular is, of course, its excellent cuisine and its special flavors. It is a fact that it has been a cultural crossroads, while every civilization has left its own mark. As a result the city’s cuisine was affected by the different influences, thus becoming a mixing of traditional flavors.
Plenty of taverns, ouzo and meze spread to all areas of the historic center, but mostly they are concentrated in Athonos Square, Ladadika and the Bit Pazar.
Entertainment in Thessaloniki
The city of Thessaloniki is famous for its nightlife, as there is a varied selection of entertainment for all tastes. Along the old coastal front there are plenty coffee bars, where guests can enjoy a coffee or drink, while at the beginning of the Nikis Avenue and close to the port, young people can have fun in a lot of bar-clubs. In winter, the heart of nightlife beats in the Vilka area and Mill, while during the summer in the airport area.
For alternative entertainment, Valaoritou area can be an excellent choice with small bars and bar-terraces, while the area of Rotonda is mostly popylar to students.
Shopping in Thessaloniki
Thessaloniki is one of the most modern shopping centers of the wider region with numerous shopping centers and shops that respond to the requirements of the most demanding consumers. The shop windows of Tsimiski, Mitropoleos and Proksenou Koromila are really impressive, while there are more markets in other shops of the historic center. As an alternative option, there is the Mediterranean Cosmos, which is the largest shopping center in the Balkans and is also ideal for numerous other fun activities (there is near an amusement park), as well as coffee and food in the many restaurants there.
